BENEFRI

BENEFRI is a collaboration agreement signed in 1993 between the Universities of Bern, Neuchâtel and Fribourg. The main aim of this agreement is to coordinate teaching and learning across the three universities, thereby expanding the range of academic programmes on offer.

The general guidelines governing student mobility from the University of Bern can be found on the main page: “Mobilitätsstudierende von anderen Universitäten – Incoming”.

Under the BENEFRI agreement, students from the Institute of Hispanic Language and Literature at the University of Bern may attend courses offered by the Spanish departments at the Universities of Fribourg and Neuchâtel which are not taught in Bern, and present the exams for the modules they have taken there.

To make the choice easier, the commented programme of each semester will provide students with a list of BA and MA courses taught at the Universities of Fribourg and Neuchâtel which can be chosen by students at the University of Bern to complement their studies in Linguistics and Literature.

The guidelines governing these equivalences are as follows: choose a course that has the same characteristics as those at the University of Bern: seminar for seminar, Vorlesung for Vorlesung, Linguistics for Linguistics and Literature for Literature.

Within the framework of ‘Wahlbereich’ credits, participation in colloquia, seminars and one-off events held at the Universities of Fribourg and Neuchâtel will be considered (awarding 2 or 3 ECTS). Once approval has been obtained from the Institute of Spanish in Bern, the student will sign an attendance record at the host university certifying their participation throughout the event.
